Structural Bodywork

Q:What is Structural Bodywork?

Structural bodywork is soft tissue manipulation with the intent of bringing more alignment to posture and function to movement. Clients often report feeling taller, breathing better, and more balanced in their overall posture after sessions.

Q:How is Structural Bodywork different from massage or chiropractic work?

Massage brings overall relaxation to body and mind with a more passive approach to soft tissue work. Structural integration bodywork can be stimulating to the nervous system and requires active participation for the giver and receiver of the work.

Chiropractic work focuses largely on manipulation of bony structures in the body where as structural integration bodywork focuses on the manipulation of soft tissue.

Q: What is the process of receiving structural integration bodywork?

Clients commit to 3-12 sessions, each with a different focus.
Each session is roughly 90 minutes long.
Clothes worn must expose the legs, torso and spine for accurate work.
The client is asked to move in a way that assists with the bodywork.
The client gets up and walks around between each of the areas worked.

How much does each session cost?
90 minute sessions cost around $165 for an established structural integration practitioner. Nichole is certified to do structural integration body work by Anatomy trains but because she is still a student in the larger program, sessions are discounted to $100.
